EBZ PRACTICE OF AWAKENING SESSHIN
"You should stop searching for phrases and chasing after words. Take the backward step and turn your light inward. Your body-mind will of itself drop off and your original face will appear. If you want to attain this, just practice this way." - Dogen Zenji
Our March 2017 silent sesshin at Garrison Institute is a time we set aside to deepen our meditation practice. It offers us a time to practice with curiosity, attention and discipline so we may have more insight and awaken to the Oneness of life.
But although we must all do this practice for ourselves, it is not a solitary experience but something we do, both alone and together.
Sesshin offers us the time and space to look deeply into the essential questions of our life. Questions like: Who am I? Who is it that talks and listens? Am I something greater than myself? How do I put an end to my suffering?
When we take the time to look into who we are and how we can live a more vibrant life it becomes more wondrous. We begin to see at a deeper level how we are connected to something vast and beautiful. Even our difficulties when we turn toward them, can be a strange gift.
So, please join us in this mysterious adventure of living where we can awaken to the Oneness of our life. There will be time for zazen, sitting and walking, dharma talks each day, private interviews with a teacher and plenty of time for reflection.
