SESSHIN: CONTINUOUS PRACTICE RETREAT
Continuous practice is the practice of how we live our life. How do we respond to a difficult relationship or situation? How do we do this practice? How do we not live a life of suffering? In the time we will have together, we will look deeply at the koans which are our life. Link here for details, registration, and payment.

GREAT VOW TRACING / ENSO DRAWING
A monk asked: "What is the reason for the emphasis on the rapid transcription of the sutra in a day?"
Master Bassui answered: "One who copies a sutra for a day will apply himself completely to the task without relaxing his effort; hence thoughts will not arise. He will naturally become one with the sutra he is copying, and this will be a link to his seeing into his inherent nature."
Ron asks: "Who wouldn’t want to do this?"
Join us as we spend time together copying (tracing) the 4 Great Vows in Japanese (the one framed on the zendo wall) on Saturday, Sept. 23. No knowledge of Japanese or calligraphy is required. The copying will be carried out in silence. An ultra fine marker will be suitable, but Ron Manning recommends purchasing a "calligraphy pen" online. The period will also include a short enso (Zen Circle) drawing class. Ron will provide all materials for the enso drawing. The suggested donation is $10. To register, contact Ron Manning at (973) 997-0101 or email@example.com. Please register by Sept 19.
We are pleased to announce that Dharma Circle will resume at this new date and time: Saturday, Sept 23 at 9:30am. Dharma Circle is an informal discussion group that focuses on dharma study and fellowship. At this meeting, we will share our experiences of how we extend our zazen practice into our daily lives and some of the challenges we face. Light snacks will be provided. Beth Bachmann and Dale Spriggs coordinate the meetings. Contact either Beth firstname.lastname@example.org or Dale email@example.com if you have any questions.
For more info and to register, go to EBZ's Zazenkai tab and follow the prompts.
